Descomposición y determinantes de la pobreza monetaria urbana en Colombia. Un estudio a nivel de ciudades

Abstract

Este artículo estudia la influencia del crecimiento de los ingresos, la variación de los precios locales, los cambios distributivos, y las características sociodemográficas y económicas de los hogares sobre la reducción de la pobreza monetaria urbana en Colombia durante el periodo 2002-2018. El artículo descompone los cambios de la pobreza entre efectos crecimiento, redistribución y línea (precios locales) y estima un modelo logit para evaluar los factores asociados a la pobreza. Los resultados sugieren que los efectos crecimiento y redistribución tendieron a reducir la pobreza en todas las ciudades, mientras que el efecto línea tendió a aumentarla. En ciudades con altos niveles de pobreza como Cúcuta, Montería y Cartagena la reducción de la pobreza durante el periodo habría sido mayor, si el comportamiento de los precios locales lo hubiera permitido.
