Abstract

RESUMENEl concepto de bancarización tiendea relacionarse con el acceso de losagentes económicos al crédito. Sinembargo, se trata de un concepto másamplio que hace referencia al accesoa todos los servicios financieros disponibles.La bancarización es a suvez una herramienta clave para lospaíses en vía de desarrollo, en tantojuega un papel significativo frente ala reducción de la pobreza, razón quela ha convertido en un tema de granimportancia para las economías deLatinoamérica.Este trabajo plantea una reflexiónsobre la importancia de la bancarizaciónpara Colombia. Se enmarcael análisis dentro de la región y posteriormentese profundiza en el casocolombiano. Se pretende explorarel avance del país frente al tema yplantear los retos a superar en lospróximos anos. Todo ello sin perderde vista la importancia de este procesopara el desarrollo económico ysocial del país.
