Intermediación financiera y crecimiento económico

Abstract

Aunque con cambios en el contexto teórico, los puntos de vista y el instrumental técnico, la discusión sobre los vínculos entre los "real" y lo "financiero" ha oscilado entre la existencia de relaciones de dependencia o de independencia entre ambas variables. Se ha debatido si la inflación es o no un fenómeno puramente monetario; si la política monetaria afecta al resto de la economía a través de los cambios de la oferta monetaria o de la oferta de crédito; si la estructura financiera de los agentes económicos determina sus decisiones operativas sobre producción, inversión y consumo; y, finalmente, si el desarrollo de la intermediación financiera influye en el crecimiento económico. Este último tema, que enfatizan los debates recientes, constituye el eje del presente artículo.
