Crecimiento económico y pobreza en Uruguay, 1991-2006

Abstract

En este artículo se analiza la relación entre el crecimiento económico y la pobreza en el período1991-2006 en Uruguay. La literatura acerca de los efectos del crecimiento sobre el bienestar de lapoblación y específicamente sobre la población en situación de pobreza ha tenido una rápida expansión en los últimos anos. En el artículo se revisan los distintos conceptos de crecimiento propobrey se presentan los resultados de la aplicación de distintas metodologías para la determinación de la relación entre crecimiento y pobreza en Uruguay en diferentes sub-periodos.
