Kinderbetreuung und (Erwerbs-) Arbeitszeit

Abstract

Im Beitrag werden Auswirkungen der Kinderbetreuung auf die Erwerbsarbeitszeit dargestellt. Anhand von aktuellen Daten des Mikrozensus wurde gezeigt, wie sich Zahl und Alter der Kinder im Haushalt auf das Ausmaß der Erwerbsarbeitszeit bei Müttern auswirken. Die seit 1996 vorliegenden Daten zeigen auch, dass innerhalb weniger Jahre die Erwerbstätigkeit von Müttern beachtlich angestiegen ist, wobei sich dieser Anstieg ausschließlich auf Teilzeitbeschäftigungen beschränkt. ln die Analyse mit einbezogen wurden auch die Kinderbetreuungsstatistik sowie Daten über Karenzgeld- und Kinderbetreuungsgeldbezieherinnen. Anhand vergleichbarer Daten wurde die internationale Position Österreichs hinsichtlich der Frauen- bzw. Müttererwerbstätigkeit darzustellen versucht. Am Ende des Beitrags wurde auf Fragen der sozialen Sicherung eingegangen, die sich aus den langen Phasen der Teilzeitbeschäftigung bei Müttern ergeben.
