Die Fremdwährungsreserven der OeNB - Wie groß ist der Spielraum?

Abstract

Durch den Eintritt Österreichs in die dritte Stufe der Europäischen Währungsunion hat sich die Höhe der von der Casterreichischen Nationalbank (OeNB) benötigten Fremdwährungsreserven deutlich reduziert. Erstens braucht die OeNB keine Reserven zur Verteidigung des Schillingkurses mehr. Zweitens reduzieren sich die Framdwährungstransaktionen der Österreichischen Wirtschaft, weil der Handel in der Eurozone währungstechnisch Binnenhandel ist. Drittens allerdings hat die OeNB als Systemzentralbank die Verpflichtung zu einer gewissen Reservehaltung. Diese Überlegungen resultieren in einem verfügbaren Volumen von mindestens 70 Mrd. S.
