Abstract

The contribution of information and communication technologies (ICT) to French growth rose strongly during the second half of the 1990s. The lag with the United States does not appear to be detrimental to progress in total factor productivity. Such progress is especially important in sectors which themselves produce new technology, but it is also spreading to other sectors.
