Le passe d’une region : les relations monetaires entre Hong Kong et la Chine dans les annees quarante

Abstract

En depit de pressions constantes, l’autorite monetaire de Hong Kong a neglige, a plusieurs reprises, les predictions de devaluation imminente a l’apogee de la crise financiere asiatique en 1997. Cette attitude peut etre mise en relation avec l’histoire monetaire de Hong Kong et sa position unique sur l’echiquier financier international. Alors que les controles sur les changes et le commerce prevalaient largement ailleurs, Hong Kong favorisait le libre-echange et les marches financiers depuis la fin de la guerre. Ainsi, la credibilite de sa monnaie a toujours ete un fondement important de la stabilite et de la prosperite economique de Hong Kong.
