Abstract

Using OECD data from the largest international survey of adult skills, the role of individualism was examined at the individual level. It turns out that more individualistic individuals are better skilled from a labor market perspective. They are also more successful academically and more likely to participate in further education in adulthood. In the labor market, more individualistic individuals also earn higher wages and are less likely to be unemployed.
