Abstract

The ifo Institute surveys more than 1,000 German personnel managers every quarter on behalf of Randstad Germany. In the third quarter of 2021, one of the questions asked was about the training situation during the Covid-19 pandemic. Three out of four companies kept on their apprentices once they had successfully completed their training. Two out of three companies offering apprenticeships reported difficulties in filling their vacancies for the current 2021/2022 training year. Around 14 percent of companies offering apprenticeships were unable to fill any of their apprenticeship positions.
