Abstract

In view of demographic change, Germany will face an increasing shortage of skilled workers in the coming years. In Germany, the Immigration of Skilled Workers Act can secure necessary skills: For it to have this effect, the visa process and appointment scheduling should be optimized and employment opportunities for immigrants should be expanded while they seek work in their field. In addition, the labor market participation of refugees already living in Germany should be increased.
