European Construction Industry: Recovery at Moderate Pace: Selected Results from the EUROCONSTRUCT Winter Conference 2020

Abstract

In November, the members of the EUROCONSTRUCT network updated their construction forecasts. According to this, the situation in 2020 was significantly better than had been feared in June of last year. However, the calculated decline was still enormous at 7.8 percent. The major differences between the individual partner countries and between the building construction and civil engineering sectors are noteworthy. For example, building construction – after its deep fall in 2020 – is likely to recover only sluggishly in the medium term, while civil engineering will already exceed its pre-crisis level in the current year.
