Abstract

The Paris Climate Agreement took effect in November 2016. At least 55 countries, accounting for an aggregate 55% of global greenhouse gas emissions, had to ratify the agreement before it could take effect. 195 countries have signed the agreement to date, and it has already been ratified by 160 countries that represent an 86.3% share of emissions. This article offers an overview of other initiatives to protect the environment.
