Investments and Leasing Show Strong Growth

Abstract

The investment indicator, based on assessments of the current business situation by leasing companies and jointly calculated by the Association of German Leasing Companies and the Ifo Institute, signals a sharp increase in investment in machinery, including other equipment, of 8% for 2014, that may be set to continue beyond the end of the year. This would mean a return to the pre-crisis level before the end of 2014 and that the investment rate in equipment investment in Germany would increase again after decreases in 2012 and 2013, while remaining at a low level.
