Abstract

An analysis by Andreas Gontermann, ZVEI, Frankfurt am Main, shows that a lack of orders was the greatest production constraint for the German electronics industry in 2013. Developments in both global economic output, as well as investment activity in industrialised countries, was weaker than in the previous year. According to IMF 2013, world trade grew by less than 3%. Domestic business in Germany was mainly overshadowed by uncertainty related to the political management of the energy turnaround. However, the German electronics industry is expected to see moderate growth in 2014.
