Falling Investments – Low Growth in Leasing Sector

Author

Abstract

The leasing sector was not only able to keep up with the dynamic growth in investment expenditure in 2011, but was also able to outstrip this growth, as shown by the latest Ifo Investment Survey of German leasing companies conducted in conjunction with the Federation of German Leasing Companies (BDL). Over the course of 2012 an increasingly cautious approach to investment became apparent across the industry. In the second half of 2012 in particular, signs of the economic cool down also emerged in the leasing sector. Slight growth of 0.5% in new business in moveable assets (0.5%) and immoveable assets (1.4%) was nevertheless generated on annual average in 2012.
