Ifo Business Survey in March 2002

Abstract

The Business Climate in German trade and industry kept on brightening in March. In West Germany the upward trend continued at an accelerated rate. For the first time since Autumn 2000 the optimistic voices predominated in the business expectations, and the judgements of the current business situation stabilised. In east Germany the business climate improvement was not as strong as in the west. Here a less sceptical appraisal of business outlook was offset by a deterioration in judgements of the current situation
