Industrieländer und Entwicklungsländer : die geteilte Welt von heute

Abstract

Nach einer Analyse (ifo Schnelldienst 8-9/1991) der Daten des Weltbankatlas von 1990 hatte sich eine weitere Verstärkung des Ungleichgewichts in der Welt seit 1980 zu ungunsten der Entwicklungsländer ergeben. Seitdem war die Weltwirtschaftssituation durch die politischen Geschehnisse, wie Bürgerkriege,der rasche Wachstum Ost- und Südostasiens etc. gekennzeichnet. Anhand des nun veröffentlichten World Bank Atlas 1998, dessen Daten sich auf 1996 beziehen, wird in dem Beitrag untersucht, wie sich die regionalen Gewichte seit damals verschoben haben. Der Anteil der Industrieländer an der Weltbevölkerung ist weiter auf ein gutes Fünftel gesunken, ihr Beitrag zum Weltsozialprodukt war 1996 etwas höher als 1980, aber niedriger als 1989. Nach Berechnungen der Weltbank wird sich bis zum Jahr 2015 der Teil der Menschheit, der in extremer Armut lebt, auf 1,9 Mrd. erhöhen.
