Die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung der Leipziger Messe auf dem alten und neuen Messegelände

Abstract

Die vorliegende Analyse beschreibt die Ergebnisse der Hochrechnungen und der Befragungen von Ausstellern und Besuchern in den Jahren 1994 bis 1996 über die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung der Leipziger Messe und ermittelt die primären und sekundären Wirkungen mit Hilfe einer Input-Output-Analyse. Die Berechnungen ergaben, daß die Leipziger Messeaktivitäten in großem Umfang der regionalen Wirtschaft zugute kommen. Von den indirekten Folgewirkungen profitieren die alten und die neuen Bundesländer in gleichem Maße. Obwohl die anläßlich der Leipziger Messe und Kongresse getätigten Ausgaben zwischen 1994 und 1996 erheblich gestiegen sind, hat der daraus resultierende Beschäftigungseffekt abgenommen. Aber auch 1996 hingen fast 4.000 Arbeitsplätze direkt oder indirekt von der Messe ab.
