Ostdeutsche Industrie: Produktionswachstum beschleunigt sich, Stellenabbau kommt fast zum Stillstand

Abstract

Anfang 1998 hat das ifo Institut zum achten Mal die am ifo Konjunkturtest teilnehmenden ostdeutschen Industrieunternehmen nach der für das laufende Jahr erwarteten Entwicklung von Produktion und Beschäftigung gefragt. Die wirtschaftliche Lage in den neuen Bundesländern ist nach wie vor kritisch, Lichtblicke gibt es allerdings im verarbeitenden Gewerbe. Mit einem voraussichtlichen Produktionszuwachs von 10% kommt der Neuaufbau der ostdeutschen Industrie endlich voran, allerdings ist das Produktionsniveau noch relativ niedrig. Den stärksten Anstieg erwarten die Investitionsgüterproduzenten. Die Ertragslage der ostdeutschen Industrie hat sich zwar verbessert, ist aber noch lange nicht zufriedenstellend. Die Zahl der Beschäftigten dürfte nochmals leicht abnehmen, der Stellenabbau beschränkt sich jedoch auf den Grundstoffsektor; die Unternehmen der anderen Bereiche wollen ihr Personal leicht aufstocken.
