Innovation als Motor für Wachstum und Beschäftigung

Abstract

Auf der 48. Jahresversammlung des ifo Instituts beschäftigte sich eine Expertenrunde mit der Frage, ob Innovationen das Wachstum und die Beschäftigung in einer Volkswirtschaft erhöhen können. Bundesminister Rüttgers vertrat den Standpunkt, daß nur Innovationen in der Industrie und im Dienstleistungsbereich wieder für Beschäftigungschancen für alle Menschen sorgen könnten. Chancen für Deutschland sah der Bundesforschungsminister vor allem im Trend zur Wissensgesellschaft. Professor Hans-Werner Sinn hielt Rüttgers entgegen, daß die Massenarbeitslosigkeit in Deutschland sehr wohl durch zu hohe Löhne verursacht werde. Andere Diskussionsteilnehmer kritisierten den deutschen Subventionsdschungel, schlechte rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen sowie die mangelnde Flexibilisierung der Arbeitszeitgestaltung als Hemmschuhe für Innovationen.
