Perspektiven für den Maschinenbau in Deutschland : auch Technologieführer brauchen internationale Produktionsverbünde

Abstract

Der Maschinenbau gehört mit einer Produktion von rund 180 Mrd. DM und mehr als 950.000 Beschäftigten zu den großen Branchen der deutschen Industrie. Aufgrund des diversifizierten Leistungsangebots seiner mehr als 30 Fachzweige ist der Maschinenbau in Deutschland stärker mittelständisch strukturiert als andere Bereiche des verarbeitenden Gewerbes. Die deutschen Unternehmen haben einen Anteil von 20 bis 25 % am Weltmarkt für Maschinenbauerzeugnisse. Die Exporte gehen hauptsächlich in die west- und osteuropäischen Nachbarländer, auf den asiatischen Wachstumsmärkten sind die deutschen Anbieter - ebenso wie ihre italienischen Konkurrenten - relativ schwach vertreten. Der deutsche Maschinenbau hat zwar in den letzten Jahren seine Direktinvestitionen erheblich gesteigert. Gemessen am Export hat er jedoch ein geringeres Auslandsvermögen als die japanischen oder die US-amerikanischen Wettbewerber. Während die deutschen Produzenten im sog. Volumengeschäft, d. h. in der Herstellung von Serienerzeugnissen, Marktanteile verloren haben, sind sie in zahlreichen Fachzweigen im sog. Technikgeschäft weltweit führend.
