Abstract

Die Bautätigkeit in Ostdeutschland hat sich seit dem Beginn der Wirtschafts-, Währungs- und Sozialunion, die die Bundesrepublik Deutschland mit der damaligen DDR am 1. Juli 1990 eingegangen ist, in einem atemberaubenden Tempo erhöht. Nach einem umstellungsbedingten Einbruch konnten die Bauinvestitionen innerhalb von nur vier Jahren mehr als verdoppelt werden. Neben zahlreichen Investitionen in die Verbesserung der Infrastruktur entstanden im Gefolge von umfangreichen gewerblichen Investitionen auch viele neue Arbeitsplätze. Das ifo Institut hat nunmehr zum zweiten Mal eine nach Bausparten und Art der Bauleistung sowie nach Bundesländern differenzierte mittelfristige Prognose der Bautätigkeit in den neuen Bundesländern fertiggestellt. Der Prognosehorizont, für den auch detailliert auf die Annahmen zu Rahmenbedingungen und Einflußfaktoren einzugehen war, erstreckt sich bis zum Jahr 1998.
