Chile : wirtschaftspolitische Herausforderungen für die junge Demokratie

Abstract

Der Erfolg der nach 1973 ergriffenen Strukturanpassungsmaßnahmen hat Chile zu einem Lehrbeispiel der neoliberalen Theorie gemacht, obwohl sich bei genauerem Hinsehen zeigt, daß viele wirtschaftspolitische Maßnahmen der achtziger Jahre keineswegs der reinen Lehre der "Chicago-Boys" um Milton Friedman entsprachen. Zur Konsolidierung der Demokratie muß es nun einerseits gelingen, die wirtschaftlich erfolgreiche Wachstumsstrategie der Militärregierung fortzusetzen, andererseits ist aber auch aktive Sozialpolitik zu Verbesserung der sehr ungleichen Einkommensverteilung und zur Lösung der großen sozialen Probleme gefordert.
