Großer Anpassungsbedarf der Textil- und Bekleidungsindustrie in den neuen Bundesländern

Abstract

Die Ablösung der sozialistischen Planwirtschaft durch die soziale Marktwirtschaft hat die Textil- und Bekleidungsindustrie der ehemaligen DDR vor erhebliche Anpassungsschwierigkeiten gestellt. Eine Untersuchung des ifo Instituts im Hinblick auf Strukturen, Technik und Unternehmensorganisation, Kooperationsmöglichkeiten zwischen ost- und westdeutschen Unternehmen sowie die internationale Wettbewerbsposition, die zusammen mit Wissenschaftlern und Praktikern aus der ehemaligen DDR durchgeführt wurde, ergab, daß die Umstrukturierung der ostdeutschen Textil- und Bekleidungsindustrie der Mehrheit der ursprünglich 318 000 Beschäftigten (1989) den Arbeitsplatz kosten wird. Bis Ende 1991 könnte ihre Zahl auf 80 000 bis 100 000 sinken. Angesichts der starken regionalen Konzentration insbesondere der Textilindustrie stellt sich der Wirtschaftspolitik die Aufgabe, den Regionen bei der Schaffung alternativer Arbeisplätze behilflich zu sein.
