Industrieunternehmen setzen auch während der Coronakrise weiter auf Forschung und Entwicklung

Abstract

Ausgaben für Forschung und Entwicklung (FuE) sind essentiell für die Wettbewerbsposition eines Unternehmens sowie dessen (langfristigen) Erfolg. Darüber hinaus spielen FuE für die langfristigen Produktionsmöglichkeiten einer Volkswirtschaft eine sehr wichtige Rolle. Auf Basis der ifo Konjunkturumfrage zeigt der vorliegende Artikel, dass auf der einen Seite die Zahl der innovierenden Industriefirmen 2020 trotz Wirtschaftskrise sogar leicht gestiegen ist. Auf der anderen Seite hat der Anteil der FuE-Ausgaben am jeweiligen Umsatz leicht abgenommen. Dies ist aber vor dem Hintergrund möglicher Umsatzrückgänge in der Industrie insgesamt zu sehen. Es ist damit zu rechnen, dass die gesamtwirtschaftlichen FuE-Ausgaben 2020 die Steigerungen der Jahre zuvor wahrscheinlich nicht fortsetzen konnten. Ein Einbruch ist aber nicht zu erwarten.
