Die Preiseffekte der Mehrwertsteuersenkung in deutschen Supermärkten: Eine Analyse für mehr als 60 000 Produkte

Abstract

Die Senkung der Mehrwertsteuer vom 1. Juli bis zum 31. Dezember 2020 ist die wichtigste Maßnahme des im Juni dieses Jahres beschlossenen Konjunkturpakets. Der Normalsatz wurde von 19% auf 16% gesenkt, der ermäßigte Satz von 7% auf 5%. Die Wirkungen dieser Maßnahme hängen entscheidend davon ab, ob die Entlastungen in Form niedrigerer Preise an die Konsumenten weitergereicht werden.
