Konformität in der DDR und Lebensverhältnisse nach der Wende

Abstract

In diesem Beitrag betrachten wir die Lebensverhältnisse von ehemaligen Unterstützer*innen und Gegner*innen des DDR-Regimes über einen Zeitraum von fast drei Jahrzehnten und analysieren, wie sich Lebenszufriedenheit, Arbeitsmarkterfolg und politische Präferenzen im wiedervereinigten Deutschland entwickeln. Unsere Analysen zeigen, dass diejenigen, die in der Friedlichen Revolution für das Ende der Autokratie demonstrierten, im neuen System vergleichsweise zufriedener sind und sich besser auf dem Arbeitsmarkt zurechtfnden. Unterstützer*innen des Systems, also ehemalige Mitglieder der SED sowie Beschäfigte im staatlichsensiblen Bereich werden dagegen wesentlich unzufriedener nach der Wende und verlieren ihre ökonomischen Privilegien.
