Mehr Kinder in Deutschland: Entwarnung für die Demographie?

Abstract

Seit einigen Jahren werden in Deutschland wieder mehr Kinder geboren. Diese für sich genommen erfreuliche Entwicklung ist aber nur zum Teil auf eine gestiegene Geburtenrate zurückzuführen; zu einem nicht unbeträchtlichen Teil reflektiert dies auch die Tatsache, dass seit dem Jahr 2011 besonders viele Frauen das Alter erreichen, in dem typischerweise eine Familiengründung erfolgt. Eine Entwarnung für die Demographie stellen die höheren Geburtenzahlen daher nicht dar, zumal selbst die aktuelle Geburtenrate von 1,47 Kindern je Frau noch weit unter dem Bestandserhaltungsniveau liegt. Es wird daher notwendig sein, die Rahmenbedingungen für die Erfüllung vorhandener Kinderwünsche auch künftig weiter zu verbessern.
