Abstract

Im Herbst 2008 befindet sich die Weltwirtschaft im Abschwung. In einer Reihe von Industrieländern droht die Wirtschaft in eine Rezession abzugleiten. In den USA deuten viele Indikatoren auf eine sehr schwache konjunkturelle Grundtendenz hin; in Westeuropa sind die Frühindikatoren in den vergangenen Monaten drastisch gefallen, und die gesamtwirtschaftliche Produktion expandierte nicht mehr. Die deutsche Wirtschaft befindet sich im Herbst des Jahres 2008 am Rande einer Rezession. Zahlreiche negative Schocks aus dem Ausland hatten bereits eine Eintrübung des Konjunkturklimas bewirkt, und mit der Zuspitzung der Lage an den Finanzmärkten haben sich die Aussichten deutlich verschlechtert.
