Abstract

Die Provinz Alberta ist durch immense Vorkommen an fossilen Energieträgern gekennzeichnet. Eine weltweit stetig wachsende Nachfrage nach Energieträgern, die zum größten Teil immer noch durch fossile Energieträger gedeckt wird, und das daraus resultierende steigende Preisniveau (speziell für Rohöl) werden durch zunehmend internationalen Rohstoffhandel beeinflusst. Speziell die USA, Kanadas direkter Nachbar und einer der größten Energiekonsumenten der Welt, ist von der weiteren Entwicklung des Energiewirtschaft in Alberta abhängig. Der Artikel gibt einen Überblick über die Rohstoffwirtschaft in Alberta, wobei er speziell auf die Ressource Öl eingeht.)
