Ertragslage im verarbeitenden Gewerbe Ostdeutschlands (Ertragslage der ostdeutschen Industrie)

Abstract

Die ostdeutsche Industrie hat sich dank ihrer niedrigeren Arbeitskosten in der schwierigen Konjunkturphase der letzten beiden Jahre als vergleichsweise wettbewerbsfähig erwiesen. Dies schlägt sich auch in einer größeren Robustheit der Umsatzrendite nieder. Die größeren Renditeeinbrüche hat die westdeutsche Industrie zu verzeichnen. Im Jahr 2002 dürfte sich in beiden Teilen des Landes die Umsatzrendite auf dem niedrigen ostdeutschen Niveau von 1,4 % eingependelt haben. Dieses Renditeniveau ist zu gering, um die notwendigen Investitionen in die Fortsetzung des Wachstums und die Stärkung der Marktpositionen der ostdeutschen Industrieunternehmen zu finanzieren. Die Angleichung von Löhnen und Arbeitsbedingungen an das Westniveau ist deshalb noch nicht angesagt.
