Deutsche Exporte im Steigflug - trotz Asienkrise : sind die Befürchtungen übertrieben?

Abstract

1997 nahmen die deutschen Ausfuhren um 12,5% zu, die Einfuhren um 19,9% ab.Diese Entwicklung bedeutet einen "All-time"-Rekord für die deutsche Außenwirtschaft. Nach Einschätzung der Experten sollte diesem Höhenflug 1998 eigentlich eine Halbierung der Wachstumsraten folgen. Doch im Januar diesen Jahres nahmen ersten Berechnungen und Schätzungen des Statistischen Bundesamtes zufolge sowohl die Ausfuhren als auch die Einfuhren expansiv zu. Die Ökonomen tun sich schwer, im Falle der Asienkrise die Wirkungszusammenhänge eindeutig zu erkennen, sie zu quanifizieren und die Entwicklung gar verläßlich zu prognostizieren. Der erfolgte Währungskollaps erzwingt in Südostasien eine Wachstumspause, die je nach Land unterschiedlich ausfällt.
