Abstract

The crisis in tourism must be understood as an unforeseen event whose character affects the normal course of tourism and which reduces or cancels tourist arrival (UNWTO, 2013). The paper presents a brief analysis of the measures adopted at international, European and national level in order to combat the effects of the Covid pandemic on tourism. At the same time, another objective of the study is to present viable solutions that can help restart tourism in our country. For example, the promotion of lesser-known natural and anthropogenic tourism objectives must be a priority and an opportunity for the sustainable development of tourism in times of crisis. The Romanian tourist offer can meet the tourists who are looking for less established tourist objectives and as such, less crowded. Another objective is to present a list of expectations of the tourism consumer, imposed by the pandemic context (health security, lack of congestion, peace), expectations that are also required as solutions to restart tourism. Tourists are reoriented, preferring family or individual tourism trips to green destinations and villages with special architecture, traditional cuisine and small accommodation units.
