Old and New Dependency Related to Extractivism

Abstract

L’obiettivo dell’articolo è di approfondire il legame tra il concetto di estrattivismo e le teorie della dipendenza che, negli anni Settanta, hanno tentato di spiegare il mancato sviluppo dei Paesi del continente sudamericano con il binomio centro-periferia. Il contributo approfondisce l’evoluzione dei modelli economici basati sull’estrazione di materie prime, dall’estrattivismo al neoestrattivismo, e mette in rilievo il protagonismo dei Governi progressisti sudamericani dei primi anni Duemila all’interno di questa transizione. Vengono evidenziati sia la persistente dipendenza economica tra i Paesi esportatori di materie prime e i Paesi importatori, che l’ampliamento della nozione di estrattivismo, necessaria per comprendere le attuali forme di sfruttamento del lavoro, dei territori e delle relazioni nella fase neo-liberalista. Il paper affronta anche il tema delle lotte che nascono per contrastare la diffusione del modello estrattivista (ecologiste, sindacali, per i diritti civili e politici ecc.) e termina con una riflessione sull’aumento vertiginoso della domanda di materieprime connesso alla transizione energetica.
