Les ONG internationales et occidentales dans les « révolutions colorées » : des ambiguïtés de la démocratisation

Abstract

?Coloured revolutions? in Georgia, Ukraine and in Kyrgyzstan have caused heated debates when they started off : were they mainly the result of exogenous interventions, or that of an endogenous movement ? Obviously, foreign interference played a significant role. However, to overthrow an authoritarian government with non-violent means requires a strong popular support as well. Rather than insisting on an opposition between their exogenous versus endogenous dimensions, the analysis presented in this article bears on their articulation and interweaving, rooted in the role international and Western NGOs played in these revolutions.
