Abstract

This article focuses on workforce planning projects. While their intrinsic ambiguity, between the search for competitiveness and the employability of employees, is presented as a limiting factor, the article mobilizes the language approach of Lacanian psychoanalysis to highlight its interest in promoting their implementation. Based on the study of four companies that have signed GPEC agreements with their trade unions, it shows how the ambiguity of the agreements is maintained even in the HR mechanisms of their implementation via a game of metaphor and metonymy. The polysemy of the agreement?s signifiers thus contributes to making the agreement work by promoting a ?flagship element? that carries the rest of the approach with it.
