Abstract

This conceptual paper tackles the peculiarity and scope of the reverse innovation phenomenon. We clarify existing, flourishing but confusing literature on the topic, before developing an original analytical grid. Our main contribution lies in specifying the very nature of the reversion (s) at stake. Using the disruptive innovation literature, we finally outline two types of reverse innovation, each of them raising specific managerial challenges.
