L’entreprise familiale est-elle éthique ?

Abstract

There is an increasing interest for ethical issues in the field of family business research. It was then considered useful to do a literary survey on this matter. First, it is clear that ethical questions are at the core of family business theories. The theories which put emphasis on confidence and cohesion in the family business define this organization as fundamentally ethical. Nevertheless, it is difficult to prove empirically the ethical nature of family businesses. There is rather a clear opposition between studies which confirm this relation, insisting on questions of identification to the firm, and others which insist on the corrupting nature of family businesses or on the risks that internal conflicts lead to non-ethical behavior.
