Abstract

Since the beginning of the 2000s, the state?s investment strategy in the rail sector has evolved from a public service logic to a market logic. The gradual liberalization can thus be explained by the SNCF?s search for increased productivity. This reveals the state?s shareholder management of the company, the results of which are questionable. What are the effects of such a transformation on employment and industrial relations? Off-status recruitment, the atomization of employees, the increasing use of subcontractors? The search for productivity comes at a cost for SNCF employees.
