Abstract

The article discusses, from a developing country perspective, the ?international legally binding instrument under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction? and the developments in international Law of the Sea that it entails. Support for the conservation of remote marine biodiversity, either for its own sake or for continued use, is an original area of international development law. It involves strong cooperation dedicated to the transfer of scientific knowledge and marine technology.
