L’auto-qualification. Continuités et changements dans la gouvernance des rapports Nord-Sud à l’OMC

Abstract

The article addresses the issue of self-declaration as a developing country within the World Trade Organization (WTO). WTO members that self-declare as developing countries gain access to special and differential treatment. This practice is being contested by developed countries. The article argues that the issue of self-declaration reveals structural and institutional transformations in North-South competitive relations. As such, it is a lever for the reform of special and differentiated treatment, driving change in the governance modalities of North-South relations.
