Abstract

The diversity of religious obedience?s and the question of respect for individual freedoms make Africa a privileged terrain for analyzing the effect of freedom of religion on female labour force participation (FLFP). Based on a sample of 48 African countries, we specify and estimate a panel data linear regression model using the Instrumental Variables Two-Stage Least Square (IV-2SLS) over the period 1990-2019. The results show that freedom of religion significantly improves female labor force participation in Africa. This effect is reinforced by natural resource rents, the internet and political stability. Codes JEL : C36, J21, Z12.
