Military Involvement Of International Organisations In Bosnia And Herzegovina

Abstract

In the 1990s, international organisations established close ties with the countries of the Western Balkans to help create stable and prosperous democratic countries and support them on the road to integration into the EU and NATO. The purpose of the paper is, through methods of analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction and generalisation, to approximate the main reasons for the military involvement of international organisations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to describe the change in the security situation that has occurred as a result of this engagement. Eufor Althea military operation is currently operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of a comprehensive approach by which the EU seeks to achieve this objective. The result of the paper highlights the justification of continued need for a military presence in this country and outlines possible solution.
