Abstract

Industry continues to be one of the key sectors of the world economy. However, with technological progress, production practices are gradually changing, and transfering from developed to developing countries, making global production more efficient. The new technological trend is going down in history under the name of Industry 4.0 and at the last step represents full autonomy of the production process. This article will analyse the available literature and evaluate the positives and negatives of this trend, respectively. its implications for the economy and everyday life. Last but not least, it will analyze the current situation in the Slovak Republic. The goal is to evaluate the stage, readiness and threats not only in Slovakia but also in other countries of the world, during the transition to autonomous production processes.
