Abstract

Ernährungsunsicherheit wird in den letzten Jahren immer häufiger mit individuellen, konsumgeleiteten Strategien begegnet. Fundamentale Prämisse ist hierbei die Souveränität der Konsumenten. Ihnen wird zugetraut, Warenproduktion und -vertrieb in signifikantem Ausmaß steuern zu können. Dabei wird jedoch vernachlässigt, dass die meisten Bedürfnisse verkörpert und nicht-reflexiv sind. Der Artikel fokussiert das Verhältnis von „Konsumentensouveränität“ und individuellem Bedürfnis. Er geht davon aus, dass die Entstehung von nachfragesteuernden Bedürfnissen einer inhärent ökonomischen Logik folgt und konsumgesteuerte Interventionen daher oftmals scheitern. Der Beitrag schließt mit einer knappen Diskussion der Möglichkeiten und Grenzen, globale Verantwortung auf lokaler Ebene zu übernehmen.
