Abstract

In the last 15 years a radical change in Mongolia’s economy is observed. Due to activities of transnational investors in the Mongolian mining sector the economic importance of mining increases while traditional herding looses economic importance. This paper examines different economic impacts of mining in Mongolia on a national level and effects on the household economy of traditional herders who live around mining sites.
