Unternehmen und die Cloud: Neue Strategien für den digitalen Umbruch und die Organisation von Arbeit?

Abstract

Nicht mehr nur in den Unternehmen der IT-Industrie wird der digitale Umbruch immer stärker mit dem Thema Cloud verbunden. Wo aktuell über disruptive Innovationen von Geschäftsmodellen, Produktionsmodellen und der Organisation von Arbeit nachgedacht wird, scheinen Cloud-Konzepte eine wichtige Basis zu bilden. In diesem Beitrag wird danach gefragt, was sich hinter dieser Diskussion um Cloud verbirgt. Ausgehend von der Theorie der Informatisierung wird dazu ein genuin soziologisches Begriffsverständnis von Cloud entwickelt. Darauf aufbauend wird der Blick in die Praxis gerichtet. Im Rahmen von drei Fallstudien werden die Strategie eines Cloud-Anbieters der ersten Stunde aus dem Silicon Valley, die Transformation eines etablierten globalen Softwarekonzerns sowie die neue Geschäftsstrategie eines mittelständischen Industrieunternehmens untersucht. Im Zentrum stehen zwei Fragen: Welche Rolle spielen Cloud-Konzepte in den neuen Geschäftsstrategien der Unternehmen? Und welche Konsequenzen ergeben sich aus der Umsetzung der neuen Strategien für die Organisation von Arbeit in den Unternehmen?
