Abstract

Während in der neueren Arbeits- und Berufsforschung im Rahmen hochqualifizierter Erwerbsarbeit die Begriffe Professionen und Wissensberufe zumeist dasselbe bezeichnen, zielt dieser Beitrag auf eine trennscharfe Unterscheidung dieser beiden Konzepte. Der Begriff der Wissensberufe ist ein Steigerungsbegriff, in der modernen Wissensgesellschaft tendiert immer mehr Arbeit zur Wissensarbeit. Demgegenüber haben wir es beim Begriff der Professionen mit einem exklusiven Begriff zu tun, Professionen können immer nur sehr wenige Berufe sein. Obwohl nun die neuen Wissensberufe gegenüber den klassischen Professionen weder etwas mit lebenspraktischen Problemen von Klienten zu tun haben noch gesellschaftliche Zentral werte abdecken müssen, kann man in Bezug auf die Form der Wissensbasierung beider beruflichen Gruppen auch eine Gemeinsamkeit markieren. Auch die Handlungslogik der zunehmenden Wissensberufe ist nicht die einer technisch-instrumentellen Anwendung von wissenschaftlichem Regelwissen; wie das Wissen der Professionen ist das Expertenwissen der Wissensberufe interpretationsbedürftig, kontingent und im Handeln immer wieder neu zu reproduzieren.
