Abstract

El documento tiene por objetivo describir el Modelo de Equilibrio General Dinámico Estocástico (MEGDE), elaborado al interior del Banco Central de Bolivia, para contribuir al análisis de la política monetaria en la economía boliviana. Este modelo se ha denominado “MEGDE-Bolivia”. El documento examina, en particular, la estructura teórica del modelo, describiéndose con detalle sus componentes y las interacciones existentes. El aporte es importante en la medida en que el modelo incorpora varias características no estándar en procura de internalizar aspectos intrínsecos de la economía boliviana y de su régimen cambiario y monetario. En particular, se destaca la incorporación de diversos tipos de dolarización y el uso de reglas de política monetaria alternativas junto a instrumentos de intervención en el mercado cambiario.
